Since working at Prism Arts I have discovered how much I enjoy sharing the joy of art and facilitating someone realise their potential.

Workshops are a great way to give everyone a chance to experience something creative, communicate and build confidence in a supportive atmosphere.

As an independent freelance artist, I have ran workshops for various groups including James Rennie School, PiNC, Carlisle Youth Zone, Cumbria Wildlife Trust and Warwick Bazaar.

Some of my favourite activities to share include group mixed media pieces, fun and funky illustration, accessible stop motion and print making of many kinds - however I am open to all possibilities and discussion on what could suit.

I have completed a Young Person and Adults specialist PGCE, doing my placement on a highly esteemed Foundation Diploma course at Carlisle College. As such, I can offer more complex and challenging workshops and activities for those looking to explore conceptual as well as technical skills.

We had some amazing musical magic with @jeremy_bradfield last Tuesday as Studio Lift Off enjoyed experimenting with a ‘Makey Makey’ 🌀⚡️ Everyone created 3D tinfoil sculptures and 2D graphite drawings, but the real wizardry begun when people were able to conduct both musically and physically the sounds through their hands. ⚡️ One of the drawings included the most exquisite drawing of Jeremy himself created by Molly. 😍 . . . #music #creative #artistsoninstagram #drawing #artworkshop

Gelli prints! 🤩 Our Studio Focus trainee artist, @nanettemadan led us through a wonderful print making workshop last Thursday afternoon. Gelli printing is something we’ve been keen to run for a while in the studio so we’re so excited for Nanette to take the lead on this including making Gelli blocks by hand. 🌞 Throughout the Artist Takeover Project Nanette has been working closely with @rosiegallowaysmith to develop inclusive creative practise, this learning and collaboration can be seen with these beautiful prints! We’re so excited to have the first items in their final form with glaze from the kiln! These thumbstones were the very first thing that Studio Arts created for the Artist Takeover Project, focusing on how our hands are the main tools when working with clay. 🌞 These have an exquisite tactile quality with texture, weight and coolness, making them perfect to incorporate into our mindfulness practise as a grounding item. ✨ Mondays are wonderful collaboration of @kah_ceramics and @karenwhybrowcoaching and we can’t wait to invite people to our studio for the sharing event to see the beautiful artwork produced but also to learn about the process. We’ve had a delightful day in the studio with Nigel who has been commissioned to create a design for our official Prism Christmas card! 🍗🥦🥔 He has created a fantastic paper cut Christmas dinner as well as some lyrical prose about the food. ✨ Watch this space for more information about our festive cards!! It was huge smiles all round yesterday during the start of the second week of our Artist Takeover Project when Mentor Artist Kim @kah_ceramics brought in a pottery throwing wheel for Studio Arts. 🌀🤩 Everyone had an absolute blast giving the wheel a go and trying their hands in making some beautiful vessels. 🏺 It’s been non stop action and creativity with our Artist Takeover in full flow, from bongos to dodos and hag stones to musical scores. Triadic Ballet 💫🌀📎 Yesterday Studio Arts completed their Bauhaus mini project and their Triadic Ballet inspired pieces. Everyone produced something unique to them across various mediums and outputs in the studio. 🎨 As shown in order; Caroline, JYMA, Michael M and Matt enjoyed photoshoots of their wearable creations with Emma our Communications Officer!
